VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The success of the OGS PTA depends on the dedication of hundreds of volunteers. Whether you have an hour or more time to help, we’d love for you to join us.

All OGS volunteers must attend one Volunteer Academy session with Dr. Bencivengo. These sessions are offered at every Curriculum Coffee and Open House, and the training is valid for your entire OGS career. If you’d like to volunteer this year—whether in the classroom, art room, media center, or as a field trip chaperone—you must attend a Volunteer Academy session.

School-Wide Volunteer Opportunities

We have some exciting ways to get involved across the school! Learn more and sign-up below:

  • Volunteer Opportunity for Moms Who Love Sports, Wednesday March 25 - In honor of Women’s History Month, and in recognition that women and girls have not always had equal access to sports, the PTA Curriculum Enrichment program is hosting a special all-school workshop: “The Real Life Lessons We Learn from Sports.” This powerful session will focus on how sports and movement are for everyone. The real lessons we gain from sports are not about winning. They are about teamwork, overcoming obstacles, resilience, and building lifelong self-belief. To make the program interactive and impactful, students will break into smaller discussion groups during the assemblies. We are looking for mom volunteers who have completed Volunteer Academy and who were athletes or simply love being active to help facilitate these small group conversations alongside Dre Brown, a renowned self-esteem educator who works with schools nationwide to help students build confidence and strong character. We need many volunteers to make this meaningful program possible. Thank you in advance for helping bring this important experience to OGS students. Please sign up here by March 20.

  • GEAR Up OGS – A new school bike safety initiative that encourages students to bike to school safely and confidently. We’re looking for parent volunteers to help bring this exciting initiative to life. Whether you’re interested in leading a bike train or just want to learn more, we’d love to have you involved. Click here to learn more, and fill out the from here if you're interested in volunteering.

  • Green Schools Food Rescue – If you would like to volunteer to support on-going OGS food donation drop-offs to the Yerwood Center, please sign-up here.

  • Mac’s Market – We need your help to make our students’ Mac’s Market dreams come true! After a month of working hard to earn their Dolphin Dollars, students look forward to choosing fun rewards. Volunteers help bring it all to life by inventorying prizes, bagging orders, and assisting with delivery so every student receives their Dolphin Dollar purchases at the end of each month.

  • Media Center – Check out opportunities to volunteer in the media center here!

  • Art Room – The art room is welcoming parent volunteers again this year!

Each grade-level sign-up includes the class schedule, making it easy to choose a slot during your child’s art class. All volunteers must have completed the Volunteer Academy training.
