GEAR UP OGS
RIDER REGISTRATION: NOW OPEN!
GEAR UP OGS is a new school bike safety initiative that encourages students to bike to school safely and confidently. Students in Grades 3 - 5 will receive bike safety training in school and, starting this spring, will have the option to bike to school in neighborhood-based “bike trains” led by trained parent volunteers. Students in Grades K – 2 are welcome to join their neighborhood train, but they must be accompanied by a designated parent/caregiver. EARTH DAY WITH ART06870
TUESDAY, APRIL 21
This Earth Day, we're excited to welcome back ART06870 to our school for a unique hands-on art experience. Students will have the opportunity to create artwork using recycled materials at various stations, guided by professional artists and educators. We need volunteers who have completed Volunteer Academy to help students at the various art stations. To be a part of this exciting experience, review the available time slots for each grade and sign up here.

OGS SPRING BOOK FAIR

The Spring Book Fair is around the corner! Please Sign Up to volunteer for setup, classroom shopping, or breakdown. Parents are also encouraged to shop with their children during their class slots.
Please consider donating to the OGS Book Fairy. All funds will be used to buy books for the teachers. You will also have the opportunity to buy books for the classrooms at the fair.
Cash, credit card, and eWallets will be accepted. The eWallet is a great cashless option if you cannot make it to the fair to shop with your child. Remember to set up your eWallet before the fair. All unused funds will be donated to the OGS Book Fairy.

BEFORE & AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS
ALL SessionS BEGIN THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 16
Early Birds Morning Movement gives students a fun, active start to the school day with movement-based activities that help boost focus and readiness to learn. Session 2 begins Tuesday, February 17, and daily drop-in registration is available. This program is a great option for families looking to streamline morning drop-off while helping kids start the day energized and centered. Register here.
A focused, small-group program that strengthens ELA and math skills while building confidence and academic momentum. Morning Enrichment is ideal for students who enjoy learning, problem-solving, and a purposeful start to the day. Session 2 begins Tuesday, February 17. Space is limited. Register here.
Homework Club provides a supportive, low-stress environment where students can complete homework with guidance from our Math Intervention Specialist, Ms. Perez, and Grade 5 teacher, Ms. Kocot. Session 2 begins Tuesday, February 17. Register here.
*To ensure proper staffing, drop-in students must be registered by the Sunday of that week.

Women’s History Month: Sports Workshop Volunteers Needed
Thursday, April 2, 8:45 – 11:45 AM, OGS GymIn honor of Women’s History Month, we are looking for mom volunteers to support a powerful all-school Curriculum Enrichment workshop, “The Real Life Lessons We Learn from Sports.”We're in search of moms that have completed Volunteer Academy and were athletes or just love being active, to help Dre Brown, a renowned self-esteem educator, facilitate interactive student discussions about teamwork, resilience, and confidence through sports and movement. This session will focus on how sports and movement are for everyone and that the real lessons we learn from sports aren’t about winning — it’s about teamwork, overcoming obstacles, and building lifelong self-belief.

Ms. Tocabens would love volunteers every Thursday from 10:30 – 11:30 AM to help organize the library. Please sign up here if you can help.
Green School Food Rescue
We're also looking for parent volunteers to support Green School's Food Rescue program, which donates leftover cafeteria food to the Stamford Yerwood Center. Volunteers are needed Wednesdays and Fridays, any time between 2 – 3:30 PM. The commitment is about 30 minutes, with a quick pickup at OGS and a drop-off just 10 minutes away. It’s a great activity to do with kids and a simple way to reinforce conservation and community empathy. Sign up here!

OGS RENOVATION UPDATE
Renovation of Old Greenwich School will begin over the April break, starting with fencing installation for Phase 1A—the new kindergarten addition and playground. The fencing will feature artwork created by OGS students. As safety is paramount, please stay away from all construction fencing.
During this initial phase, the playground will be closed from April 2026 until fall, with alternative arrangements provided during the school day. The Building Committee is aiming to have the new playground ready by the start of the next school year.
