100TH DAY OF SCHOOL DONATION DRIVE
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 2 – FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 6

In celebration of the 100th Day of School, OGS is hosting a personal care donation drive to benefit the GHS Community Pantry (formerly the Folsom House Care Closet). This effort directly supports nearly 600 local teenage students in need.
Our goal is for each grade to collect 100 items or more by the 100th day of school. Each grade has been assigned specific hygiene items to donate:
  • Kindergarten: Lip balm or Band-Aids
  • Grade 1: Toothbrushes or Toothpaste
  • Grade 2: *Shampoo or *Conditioner
  • Grade 3: *Body Wash or *Hand/Body Lotion
  • Grade 4: Products for Textured Hair or Cotton Swabs (Q-Tips)
  • Grade 5: Shaving Cream or Deodorant (men’s or women’s)
*Items should be no larger than 24 oz, as students walk and take buses home and need to carry donations along with their belongings.
Donation bins labeled by grade will be located in the front hall outside the main office. Students will count donations daily and track their progress at school. The GHS PTA will also share donations with other local schools in need.
Let’s work together to help every grade reach its goal and support local students in our community.

OGS PAJAMA DaY
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 6

OGS is proud to participate in PJ Day, a district-wide fundraiser supporting kids at Connecticut Children’s Hospital. This special day is organized by former OGS student and childhood cancer survivor Sophie Lenschow and her family, who continue to turn a simple idea into meaningful impact.

PJ Day raises awareness and funds for pediatric cancer by encouraging students and staff to wear their pajamas in solidarity with children who must wear theirs while receiving treatment. Since bringing PJ Day to Greenwich five years ago, the community has raised more than $71,000. Last year, OGS led the district by raising the highest total.

Students and staff are encouraged to wear their PJs to school and donate $1 or more. Donations may be sent in as cash or made online here.

GEAR UP OGS parent training (virtual) February 18, 9 - 10 AM

GEAR UP OGS is a new school bike safety initiative that encourages students to bike to school safely and confidently. Students in Grades 3 - 5 will receive bike safety training in school and, starting this spring, will have the option to bike to school in neighborhood-based “bike trains” led by trained parent volunteers. Students in Grades K – 2 are welcome to join their neighborhood train, but they must be accompanied by a designated parent/caregiver who is not volunteering as a chaperone (conductor/caboose) of the train ride. Join us for a virtual parent training session to learn more about the program and how you can get involved!
